LifeWorklife appoints IoD Chairman Nick Sturge as Non-executive Director

21/08/2008

LifeWorklife, an innovative Bristol-based online business service which matches employers and potential employees, has appointed IoD South West Chairman, Nick Sturge, as Non-Executive Director to steer the business through a period of rapid growth.

LifeWorklife is an online community for people looking for fulfilling flexible careers and for companies looking for a skilled, motivated workforce. The company’s client membership is increasing on average by 50% each month. The service differs from other online job boards in that the people who become members keep a space on LifeWorklife rather like a social networking site - but with employment as its central aim.

Kirsten Hemmingway, LifeWorklife’s managing director, says: “We’re very please that Nick has joined the team. We wanted someone who understands how high-tech leading edge companies operate and can help direct LifeWorklife through a period of rapid growth. He has great business experience, a fantastic network and understands the importance of balancing work and home life.”

Nick is a business consultant and Director of SETsquared, an organisation that helps early-stage, high-tech, high-growth potential ventures get on the road to success. He was appointed Chairman of the IoD, Bristol branch in January 2008.

Nick says: “I relish the opportunity to work with such a bright young company whose product can help employers maintain a flexible workforce and people find flexible work. I am delighted to be on board. ”

Individuals can maintain a list of potential employers or customers, while organisations can grow their list of potential employees or people who work for them on short-term contracts. Also, they may use this space to keep in touch with their independent resources.

Kirsten continues: “Around 80% of our customers are organisations which demonstrates that online recruitment is both popular and necessary. Membership of LifeWorklife experiencing on average 50% growth each month. We need someone with Nick’s experience to ensure our business keeps on developing in a way that enables us to meet our clients’ needs.”
